Careers

Welcome to Careers Information & Guidance at The Link School. On this page we have a range of information for you as learners and your Parents/Carers which will help you make decisions about your future.

The Link School supports students to re-engage in education and make progress towards their learning and employment goals. We recognise that an effective Career Education and Guidance (CEG) programme is vital to raising the aspirations of students and enabling them to make realistic and informed choices about their future employment options.

What is Careers Education and Guidance?

The aim of CEG is to enable students to find out about the world of work, develop key employability skills and ensure that they take responsibility for planning their own career pathway. CEG at The Link School takes place within lessons and assemblies as well as through external visits and guest speakers. Year 11 students will also receive 1:1 guidance once a term. Your child will learn how to research different jobs, make decisions and find out what opportunities are open to them once they leave school. They will also have the opportunity to attend an internal careers fair and meet with local colleges, training providers and employers with a view to supporting them with the next steps once they leave school. As a parent/carer you would like any further information about Careers Education and Guidance at The Link School please contact us using the details below.

News Flash…

We are incredibly proud to share that the work that we did to support our Y11 leavers in 2021 has been formally recognised by the Department for Education. We are currently also supporting our 2022 leavers to start thinking about possible destinations once they leave us at the end of Year 11. There will be a range of visits and activities for them to take part in over the next few months and further opportunities to meet with the Careers Lead, Gina and the Careers Advisor, Alex to discuss options, develop CVs and apply for courses/placements/jobs.

Please click on the link below to read our case study. The Link School is not named directly, but we are the first one you read when you arrive at the page.

A Huge thanks go to the Careers Team as well as all of the staff who supported our learners. We would also like to thank parents and carers for their ongoing support.

Local Market Information for the North East

Every month there we will load a document here showing all of the local market information (LMI) for the North East region. LMI helps us to make future decisions about training, education and employment after we leave school and throughout our lives. It ensures that we all have greater knowledge of the opportunities in our local area and how we can achieve our ambitions for the future. Knowing which job sectors and industries are expanding and contracting ensures we can make the best choices for our future. Take a look at the bulletin below by clicking on the link and chat with staff in school about how this affects the choices you make at post-16.
