The Link School supports students to re-engage in education and make progress towards their learning and employment goals. We recognise that an effective Career Education and Guidance (CEG) programme is vital to raising the aspirations of students and enabling them to make realistic and informed choices about their future employment options. We believe that careers education should start at the youngest possible age and therefore all learners at The Link School given opportunities to think about, discuss and engage with a range of future possibilities to help them make future at all ages and stages throughout their Link School Journey.

 

What is Careers Education and Guidance?

The aim of CEG is to enable students to find out about the world of work, develop key employability skills and ensure that they take responsibility for planning their own career pathway. CEG at The Link School takes place within lessons and workshops as well as through external visits and guest speakers. Year 10 and 11 students will also receive 1:1 independent guidance at least once per term. Your child will also learn how to research different jobs, make decisions about their future and find out what opportunities are open to them once they leave school. They will also have chances to attend internal and external careers fair and meet with local colleges, training providers and employers with a view to supporting them with the next steps once they leave school. Our Careers Programme

Our Careers Programme is built into PSHE, Personal Development and Wider World lessons across all of our Key Stages with all other subjects building opportunities into lessons. Every opportunity is taken to ensure that learners see the link between the subjects they study and the career options open to them in the future. Below is a guide to the possible opportunities within our curriculum for each year group.

Every week we will share ‘Job of the Week’ video where we highlight one job, role or profession that might be of interest to you when you leave school. These will also be shared on our school Facebook page. For any further information about any of the careers profiled, please talk to any member of staff.

Destination Data (Post-16)

The majority of our learners will be successful in securing their first choice placement after leaving us at 16. The following information shows our recent destination data for our learners on completion of their secondary education at The Link School.

**UPDATE June 2026**

The Link School are delighted to be undertaking the process to be awarded with the Investors in Careers Award for a second time with the support and guidance of CareerWave. The process will be fully complete by the end of the Autumn Term in 2026 when further updates will be made.
