June 16, 2020
I understand that the last three months has been a very difficult time to navigate through and that your child has lost out on some of those traditional things that are associated with being in Year 11, as a school we have found this incredibly challenging too.
On Thursday 25th June 2020, I would like to invite you and your child to attend one of our Year 11 celebration events. You will have the opportunity to say farewell to some of the school staff, and your son/daughter will be given their file of achievement which includes a record of their time at The Link School.
You will be given me the opportunity to attend one of the four socially distanced celebration events that will take place at our Pallion site, where refreshments will be provided.
The timings are:
12noon – 12.30pm
12.45pm – 1.15pm
1.30pm – 2.00pm
2.15pm – 2.45pm
During this week, staff from The Link School will make contact to arrange a time for you to attend – there will be a maximum of 4 people from each family who can attend the event.
Post-16 Destination Support
Friday 26th June 2020 is the official national leaving day for all Year 11 pupils, this means that your child will officially come off the school role. Access to the national FSM voucher scheme will cease and the twice weekly welfare phone calls will stop. However, as a school, we will be continuing to support the delivery of food parcels until the end of the term.
We also wish to continue to support our pupils with their Post-16 choices. I know many of you have been working with our Careers Advisor (Richard Alnutt) to support this process and we are really proud of hearing what you are applying for and what you have been offered.
Therefore, from Monday 22nd June 2020, we are going to be offering ‘drop in sessions’ every Monday until the end of the term to support any of our Year 11 pupils in applying for college, apprenticeships, job applications etc. These sessions will be available from 9.30am – 1.00pm, but you must ring the school to arrange an appointment first – this allows us to ensure that we can keep people safe.
Our one to one tutor team will be in touch this week to discuss these sessions and how we will continue to support your child throughout the Summer and Autumn Terms.
As a school, we will continue to support you and your families moving forward, don’t be afraid to ask – we are all in this together.
Please continue to stay safe and well.
