Healthier Together

The Link School wants to support parents/carers to access health care at the right time for the right reasons because some parents/carers do not know how to. It is Important we always offer consistent advice, especially as names and purposes of services can change and evolve and each area has their own websites and health care pathways.

You are all on the front line and therefore are pivotal to its effectiveness and therefore success.

Most North-East and North-Cumbria areas already have significantly higher rates of A&E attendances across all age ranges compared to the England average.

Evidence shows that parents seek healthcare consultations for their children due to parental anxiety and lack of confidence to distinguish non serious illnesses from serious ones.

Parents and carers can also find it difficult to determine whether their child should attend their school or keep them at home.

The Healthier Together initiative involves Education and the NHS working side by side to increase awareness and use of the Healthier Together App and Website.

The initiative is used as a platform to share information consistently and can help parents/carers to make informed decisions about accessing the right local healthcare service for their children e.g. GP, Pharmacist, self care at home or A&E if serious.
