Dear Parent/Carer,

As you know, the National Education Union (NEU) has voted for further strike action for teaching staff on Thursday 27^th April and Tuesday 2^nd May 2023. Teaching staff at our school have a legal right to take part in the planned strike action, however, it is important to emphasise that the dispute and strike action is not specific to our school.

The industrial action is in relation to the NEU’s dispute with the Government over the nationally agreed pay rises, when considering the pressures faced by staff with the increased cost of living which we are all experiencing. It is a national issue, affecting all schools in England.

For school to remain fully open, I have to be satisfied that we have enough staff in school to comply with our legal obligations and duty of care to students. Unfortunately, this isn’t the case and the plans for Thursday 27^th April and Tuesday 2^nd May 2023 are as follows:

School will remain open to all our primary learners at Springwell Dene, and learners in Year 7, 8 and 11. Year 11 learners will continue to attend Pallion as normal.

Oxclose Hub – will be closed to all learners who attend the hub.

Year 9 and 10 – The Link School will remain closed for learners in Year 9 and Year 10. Work will be provided for our learners to complete through Century Learning, tasks will be uploaded to the platform prior to the 27^{th of} April 2023. Those pupils on one-to-one tuition will still have one to one sessions as per their normal timetable and those learners who attend vocational placements are still able to attend those.

Free School Meals

If your child is in receipt of free school meals and they are affected by strike action, we will provide the equivalent free school meals voucher to you.
