As you will be aware yesterday, the Government has announced the next stage of the plan to Stay Alert, Control The Virus, Save Lives. As part of this advice they want to get all children back into education as soon as the scientific advice allows because it is the best place for them to learn, and because they know it is good for children’s mental wellbeing to have social interactions with other children, carers and teachers.
From the week commencing 1 June, they are asking:
Alternative provision to welcome back children in reception, year 1 and year 6 and begin some face to face support with year 10 and 11 pupils (as they have no year 12).
Here at The Link School, we are keen to assure parents and carers that we will do our best to ensure that all of our children and young people remain as safe as possible whilst attending school. This will include:
• limiting the amount of contact between different groups of children (such as
smaller class sizes with children and staff spread out more)
• additional protective measures, such as increased cleaning and encouraging
good hand and respiratory hygiene.
The Senior Leadership Team are currently working on a plan which will outline how we are going to support the phased return of our children back into school. Once this plan is finalised we will share the plan with parents and carers through our daily phone calls, school website, text messaging service and our Facebook page – this will be only take place if there are no further changes to the Government advice. To support our planning process, we will be sending out an online survey next week so we can be aware of any concerns that you have about your child returning to school, we would welcome as many responses as possible.
We are continuing to use the Edenred Free School Voucher Scheme for those children who are entitled to free school meals. The Edenred scheme will not run over the May Half Term holiday but as a school we will provide you with a £15 voucher to cover this period.
We hope that you and your family have all that you need to stay safe and well in the up and coming weeks. To continue to support our families, we will be still continuing our family welfare checks at least twice a week, this is the time we dedicate to you so we can keep you informed of any updates, check on how you and your children are and whether there is anything we can do to help. We are continuing to offer breakfast packs and food packs regularly and you can request one of these during the phone calls that you receive, and anything else that you feel you need our help with. Nicole and Claire continue to be available as part of our ‘mindfulness moments phone call sessions’ where our children and young people take some time to talk, for
someone else to listen. They are available on the following numbers: Nicole – 07887588997. Claire – 07500609717
All of our learners continue to be provided with work packs, access to websites to and Century Online learning. We are aiming to support our KS3 and KS4 families with a school laptop scheme, over the next few weeks we will be working with our families to ensure that Y9 and Y10 pupils have access to laptops to support their learning moving forward. Staff will be in touch regarding this towards half term. If you have any concerns or need to access more work for your child, please let our staff know when they ring you. As a school, we will continue to support you and your families moving forward, don’t be afraid to ask – we are all in this together.
Please continue to stay safe and well,
