Dear Parents/Carers,
I hope that you and your families continue to be safe and well, in the current local lockdown situation. As you will be aware from Thursday 5th November, the national restrictions replace the local restrictions in our area. The new measures will apply nationally for four weeks up to Wednesday 2nd December. At the end of the period, the government will look to return to a regional approach, based on the latest data.
As part of the new lock down measures, the Government has ordered certain businesses and venues to close.
These include:
From Monday 9th November 2020, and for the duration of the lockdown period, we are going to have to change our afternoon curriculum offer as we are unable to offer our current model of outdoor education, the rest of the timetable will remain the same and pupils will continue to be in school for 9am.
This will mean that for two afternoons per week, school will finish at 1.15pm, for your child. Once they return home, we are asking pupils to access our online remote learning platform of Century Learning for a period of 30-60 minutes during that afternoon, this will be followed up by a phone call from our staff to check their progress at the end of the school day. For those pupils who attend Evolve and Pinnacle, their timetables will remain the same.
School staff will be in contact with all parents/carers and pupils on Friday 6th November 2020 to explain which two afternoon’s pupils will be completing their home learning.
Remote Learning
Our online platform is provided by Century Learning. All KS3 pupils have been given their log-in details for this in school and have being taught how to access and use Century learning. For those pupils who do not have access to a tablet or laptop, these will be provided by the school this week so pupils can access the learning platform.
I can appreciate that these changes whilst not ideal are put in place to ensure that we continue to keep our school community as safe as possible, these arrangements will be continually reviewed in line with any changes to Government advice.
I would like to thank you for your ongoing support in these unprecedented times.
Please continue to stay safe and well.
