Dear parents/carers,
I hope that you are all safe and well today and enjoying the summer break.
We are looking forward to welcoming your child back to school on Tuesday 7th September 2021. For those primary pupils who require taxi transport to school, pickups have been arranged for this date.
In order to ensure a safe return for everyone, we will be offering assisted lateral flow tests in school for our Secondary age pupils on arrival at the school site for the first time, these will then be offered on the Friday 10th September, Monday 13th September and Friday 17th September. If you wish to test your child at tests can be obtained from school, online or from your local pharmacy.
Face coverings
Face coverings are no longer advised for pupils The government has removed the requirement to wear face coverings in law but expects and recommends that they are worn in enclosed and crowded spaces where you may come into contact with people you don’t normally meet. This includes public transport; however we will continue to wear coverings on our school minibuses.
We have also been issued advice from The Director of Public Health Sunderland, advising the temporary use of face coverings for staff and visitors in communal areas and corridors for at least the first two weeks of term.
To view the latest government guidance, please use the following link:
Self-isolation of those who are symptomatic or have a positive test result
Individuals who are symptomatic or who test positive with either a LFT or a PCR must still isolate.
Anyone who tests positive with a LFT is advised to take a confirmatory PCR test within 2 days of their LFT
Close contacts
As you will be aware children (under 18 years and 6 months) are not required to isolate as a close contact of a confirmed case, although they will still be encouraged to take a PCR test.
Adults who are fully vaccinated, taking part in clinical trials or medically exempt from vaccination (with proof) are also not required to isolate as a close contact of a confirmed case, but will still be encouraged to take a PCR test and follow precautions to protect others
We are very much looking forward to welcoming our pupils back and are all certainly hoping for a more “normal” school year.
I hope that you and your families enjoy the last few days of the summer holiday, let’s hope the sun shines!
Yours sincerely,
Donna Walker
Head Teacher
