Proposal to change the length of the school day – Results

November 17, 2020

Dear Parents/Carers,

Re: proposal to change the length of the school day

Further to my letter dated 12th October 2020, I am writing to inform you of the results of consultation to the proposed changes to the structure of the school day at The Link School Sunderland.

We consulted to finish the school day at 12.30pm on a Friday. In order, to ensure that teaching and learning time isn’t lost and we adhere to the statutory number of teaching hours, these will be the new times for the school day.

The rationale will allow us to maximise the curriculum time teaching throughout the week, and allow us to support school improvement planning moving forward, in addition it will provide adequate time for the cleaning team to complete school premises hygiene tasks and deep cleans to keep the school as safe and clean as possible.

Secondary Pupils

Monday to Thursday: 8.45am – 2.45pm

Friday: 8.45am – 12.30pm

Primary Pupils

Monday to Thursday: 8.45am – 2.30pm

Friday: 8.45am – 12.30pm

Throughout the consultation period we have received no objections to the proposal and can confirm that from Monday 4th January 2021 the new timings to the school day will come into force.

Thank you for your ongoing support and please continue to stay safe and well.

Yours sincerely,

Donna Walker

Headteacher
